Chess for Ages 4.5+

Playing chess is a powerful tool for the harmonious development of intelligence. It cultivates creativity and logical thinking, and teaches children to think ahead, remember, compare, generalize, and anticipate the results of their actions.


Objectives:

  • To build a stable and lasting interest in the game of chess among preschoolers.
  • To help children master fundamental chess concepts.
  • To introduce the rules of sportsmanship and proper conduct during a chess game, and to teach children to act in accordance with these rules.
  • To teach children how figures interact while completing game tasks, and how to apply their knowledge of the pieces during a game.
  • To ensure the successful mastery of the foundational principles of playing a chess match.
  • To promote the active use of acquired knowledge during practical gameplay.
  • To develop spatial reasoning on the board and enrich a child’s imagination.

A chess tournament is held at the end of every block of 12-17 lessons.


About the Coach: Anzhela Khegay

Anzhela is a Woman International Master (WIM), FIDE Trainer (FT), and FIDE Arbiter (FA) who has been coaching since 1997.
